The days of September from 23th to 30th of each year see is the period in which the European Week of Sport take place. Established in 2015, this anniversary aims to raise awareness of an active and healthy lifestyle among European citizens through the practice of sports through which they can achieve mental and physical well-being.

A not insignificant aspect, which spurs people to movement, is having available public places that are suitable to host these activities and that are of real inclusion for the entire community, amateur and competitive, throughout the year: pleasant, modern and energy-efficient gyms and sports centers, well-equipped public parks where one can move around while immersing oneself in greenery, networks of bicycle paths that connect local attractions and strategic places of everyday life, widespread charging stations for electric bicycles, digital tools that encourage dialogue between the different recreational and sports activities available nearby, inclusive facilities that are easily able to accommodate not only people with disabilities or advanced age but also those in economic or social distress…

Sport is fundamental because, from an early age, it can convey those important values that help educate people: it teaches one to practice consistently, to be a team player, not to give up, to have respect for the opponent, to be aware of one’s body and one’s actions, to focus on the goal, to take care of the equipment, as well as to find other people to share adventures with. This is why, when we support local governments in Integrated Territorial Investment projects, we pay a lot of attention to the needs of every single territory with respect to sports infrastructure and soft mobility, because the well-being of the person, of the community, also depends on the well-being of the environment that welcomes it.
