The April 22th of each year marks International Earth Day.

Deforestation, reckless land use, pollution, intensive farming, fishing and ranching, climate change… these are just some of the most obvious risks that are leading to the unraveling of our Home in terms of biodiversity and general well-being.

Officially established in 2009, but whose origins date back to the 1970s, International Earth Day is now celebrated in more than 190 countries and is precisely dedicated to raising awareness on the issue of defending the planet we inhabit so that the transition to a more sustainable economy for both people and the planet itself is implemented.

No small challenge and not immediate. But neither unattainable.

With this in mind, in 2015 the governments of more than 190 United Nations countries approved an Agenda consisting of 17 Sustainable Development Goals on environmental, economic, social and institutional issues to be achieved by 2030. These goals concern and involve not only all countries but also the various components of society such as private companies, the public sector, civil society, information and culture… because change is everyone’s responsibility. We are doing our part too: the 17 Goals are now part of the base structure of our projects and activities. Through Integrated Territorial Investments, for example, we work for territories and with municipalities: this is where we can intervene in a constructive and meaningful way with regard to sustainable mobility, renewable energy, urban and rural regeneration, and the enhancement of individual local peculiarities, stimulating and keeping active the dialogue and cooperation between the various local public and private actors. Together we can thus generate a virtuous circleof well-being that affects the environment, people and their lifestyle within the territories concerned and beyond: we work and act locally, but the ultimate and overall implications contribute to the well-being of the entire planet.
