Nothing in the world is as powerful as an idea whose time has come
– Victor Hugo –
After delving into what ‘Listening’ means to us at CISA, our reflection continues by investigating the concept of ‘Being current’. Indeed, as expert consultants in sustainable development, it is our task to understand the present and adapt it in the territories that ask for our support.
Climate change, inadequate services, energy crisis, discrimination, economic criticalities… these are just some of the main issues that each of us has to face every day, with all the consequences of the case (think of hydrogeological instability, abandonment of the territory of origin, drowning in everyday life…). High institutions are trying to offer guidelines and tools to navigate in this sea of difficulties, but how much is actually received and, above all, adopted at a concrete level up to us?
The 17 Goals for Sustainable Development of the UN 2030 Agenda, the European Cohesion Policy, the Next Generation EU, the Integrated Territorial Investment, the Institutional Finance Institutions (such as the European Investment Bank and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), the National and Regional Strategies for Sustainable Development… how can they really be useful in practice?
Let us return to our mission as CISA: We support the evolution and development of a territory, organising its infrastructures and services according to the evolution of social, economic, cultural and, above all, environmental dynamics. We identify the strategic, logical, financial and governance tools devoted to the core values of Community guidelines, in a programmable and incremental logic capable of guaranteeing replicability in the territory of reference.
Therefore, our aim is to act as intermediaries, as facilitators, between the needs of the territories, their desires and possible solutions. For this reason, we have been committed for years to supporting municipal Administrations in making known those instruments and values that already exist and in translating them into an operational, effective and useful way in their daily lives.
We want to put ourselves at the service of today and tomorrow, because we want to contribute to making a positive impact that restores the all-round well-being of people and the environment, because we want to help generate an echo, an emulative spirit, capable of understanding and interpreting the present, and because we want to act to improve it in a fair, just and sustainable manner.
The tools are there, they just need to be dusted off, understood and adapted as the different situations require.
We can truly realise, together, the ‘Smart’ plans of our Lands.
