May 9th of each year marks Europe Day in remembrance of the declaration, expounded by Robert Schuman in 1950, for a new form of political cooperation, which is considered the birth certificate of today’s European Union.
Today we celebrate too, at CISA, our way of being European by recalling our application of Integrated Territorial Investment, a tool that allows EU member states to combine investments from different priority axes of one or more operational programs for multidimensional interventions or between several sectors. The ITI is therefore functional in achieving the Smartland concept because it makes possible to work for the enhancement and integrated development of territories and to bring together, in a single structured and “integrated” project, a set of individual “infrastructural” initiatives useful for the development of a territory following the European Union’s logic of sustainability, inclusion, innovation and social contamination.
Through this path, it is also possible to contribute to the transition to a more sustainable economy both for people and for the planet itself, as wished by the United Nations with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, intervening constructively and positively for local and global well-being.
This is the topic we talked about during the meeting held at Villa Daccò in Gessate, in May 7th, together with Ecomuseo Martesana as part of Civil Week 2022: we recounted the SAM Smartland Adda Martesana project highlighting the importance of the contribution not only of local municipal administrations, the political side, but also of citizens and the Third Sector, the civil side, so that we can build a more cohesive, welcoming community that is aware of the territory’s needs through a development strategy that is integrated, intersectoral and built on collaboration and local synergies.
