‘I.T.I. Chora Velina’ is the title of the new Integrated Territorial Investment project conceived in the central Cilento area.

Twelve municipal Administrations signed the Protocol of Intent: Vallo della Lucania, lead partner, Ascea, Cannalonga, Castelnuovo Cilento, Ceraso, Gioi, Moio della Civitella, Novi Velia, Omignano, Orria, Perito and Salento. The project saw the active participation of the Sistema Cilento Territorial Development Agency, a publicly-owned company set up to develop the territory and provide services to the entities that are part of it and its current president, Mr Marco Sansone. To date, there are more than 40 Municipalities in the Cilento region that adhere to and benefit from Sistema Cilento. This bodes well for a fruitful future that will see the networking of much of the Cilento territory.

The I.T.I. was seen as the appropriate tool to pursue the objective of creating an integrated territorial strategy for the development of projects aimed at enhancing and valorising the potential of its area of reference. The project embraces six thematic corridors: Shared sustainable energy; Conservation and enhancement of the historical, archaeological and cultural heritage; Repopulation and new economies; Mobility and accessibility networks; Monitoring and safeguarding; Digital transition.
The overall objective of the project, therefore, fits well with the core values of the European Community: innovation, sustainability and cohesion, all designed to ensure that the rights, needs and requirements of the participating Municipalities are met in the context of regional, national and European planning.
