Cunziria Hamlet

Beneficiary of the PNRR Call for Projects Borghi – Line A from the Ministry of Culture, the project aims to regenerate and enhance the Borgo della Cunziria through physical and digital interventions for the sustainable development of the entire area.
It’s about the implementation of a unified integrated project that aims to:

• Set up a coordinated set of cultural, social and economic regeneration interventions;
• Open toward new scientific paths and literary&social research that can find ground for experimentation, comparison and study precisely in the reborn Borgo della Cunziria;
• Identify a vision that will make it one of the main poles of cultural richness centered on Verga’s work and the tradition of rural Sicilia;
• Repopulate through an evolution of the social, economic and cultural paradigm that reverses the trend toward a new sustainable and innovative development.

This vision will be implemented through two main directions:

• Borgo: set of regeneration strategies and actions useful for the development of Cunziria, with both internal and external effects and consequent impacts on the local and, in some cases, supra-local context;
• Metaborgo: set of strategies and actions useful for the promotion of Cunziria in the world, storytelling and remote user interaction.

Netith/Cisa’s role has been to support the City Administration since the strategic project creation phase and will be developed throughout the planned project implementation period by providing assistance at multiple levels:

• The accompaniment to the strategic consolidation of the project;
• The assistance in the definition of the different partnerships (PPP) promoted by private and institutional entities;
• The economic and financial planning of each individual regeneration project;
• The coordination of the implementation phase;
• The ministerial reporting of expenses incurred and financed;
• The definition of the architecture of management and operation of the Borgo.
